I used to think that the Frozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity III in Las Vegas was the sh.t
The very very very last time I had it, the spark just wasn’t really there anymore
It was good, yes, but not ahhhhhhhhhhmazing
Anyhow, I decided to swipe a couple bags of their Frozen Hot Cocoa Mixes to take home. I have yet to use it all up, so I decided that I could use it for this recipe here. Serendipity is still Serendipity. Cool and all but nothing big enough to be fussin’ over.
– 1 scant T. granulated sugar
– 1 1/2 T. hot cocoa mix
– 1 T. unsalted butter
– 3 T. semi-sweet chocolate chips
– 3 T. white chocolate chips
– 6 oz. homemade evaporated milk
– 2 1/4 c. ice
– fresh whipped cream
In a double-boiler form a paste with sugar, cocoa mix, and butter. Then, melt in the chocolate chips and thoroughly whisk in half of the evaporated milk. Remove from the heat, and set aside to cool. Meanwhile, whip a little bit of heavy cream to make some whip cream. In a blender, add ice, remaining evaporated milk, and the cooled chocolate-base mixture. Blend until smooth! Pour into a chilled glass and top with whipped cream and chocolate chips.
